About

We believe our approach to winemaking will allow us to produce high quality wines that have a hint of the old world combined with the best of today’s winemaking techniques.  Little River Winery combines the best elements of wineries throughout the world. Winemaking techniques developed and used in France, Italy, Argentina, South Africa and Napa Valley are being implemented and used at Little River.

Vineyard and Winemaking

Grapes

Located at the foothills of the Uhwarrie Mountain Range, Little River Vineyards has been in existence since 1999 providing grapes to wineries in North Carolina.  The vineyard is approximately 20 acres and yields a variety of red and white grapes.

“Over the years we have made wine for friends and family but in 2008 decided to move into commercial winemaking.  We have harvested grapes here for ten years and experience tells me that the quality of grapes will lead to premium wines assuming that we have great winemakers.” said John Georgius, vineyard and winery owner.

Terroir

Grapes

An important essential element contributing to the unique quality of the Little River wines is the Terroir. Grown at the foothills of the Uwharrie Mountain Range, our grapes have a distinctive regional character which adds to the wine’s personality and intensity. The combination of chalk, clay and gravel provide a unique influence and earthy flavor to the wines.
